Sonicorbiter servers and Rendu players use versions of Sonicorbiter OS. Go to sonicorbiter.com and enter the server Interface. Go to Apps/Software Manager. Click the Update button, wait for it to complete. This simple process will update all installed software and Apps within the major release. It is useful run do this occasionally as any new features will be added. Only the major revision level is displayed (currently v2.8)
That is all that is required for regular software updates
Users cannot update v2.8 to v2.9 software. Rendu users can purchase v2.9 SD cards from our site. Server users need to send their server to us. V2.9 server software currently (December, 2024) lacks some of the features of v2.8 and will usually only be required by some users of HQServer software.
Nova Sonicorbiter v2.7 to v2.8 (Back up your files first. This is a major upgrade)(V2.8 is required for Roon updates after November 2021)
The upgrade can take a long time depending on system and network speed. Make sure that you have sufficient time to complete the process. Do not reboot or power off your unit until the upgrade is complete. If the MPD/DLNA Renderer App is installed on your Nova please delete it, from Apps/Software Manager/Installed Apps, before running the upgrade. It can be re-installed when the upgrade is complete
- Go to sonicorbiter.com and enter the Nova Interface. Go to Apps/Software Manager. Click the Update button, wait for completion. Then reboot your Nova Sonicorbiter
- Now manually enter the upgrade UR: http://<Nova Sonicorbiter ip>/upgrade28.php (So if your Nova IP address is 192.168.1.10 you enter http://192.168.1.10/upgrade28.php into your browser) A few seconds after entering this URL the upgrade will start. It can take quite a long time. Wait for it to finish! (If the screen goes blank leave it at least an hour)
- Once it’s finished reboot
- Now run steps 1, 2, 3 , TWO more times
The upgrade to v2.8 is complete. You may need to re-install some applications (from Nova/App Manager)
