Description
New, improved media converter. Perfect for use with opticalRendu or Signature Rendu
Some audiophiles have tried to use copper Ethernet to optical Ethernet transceivers to build an isolated gap between their audio equipment and their router. This works well but the final transceiver has to be connected to the network player using wired Ethernet and noise can be picked up at that point
Sonore opticalModule is a bi-directional fiber media converter or FMC. The opticalModule has an SFP fiber optic transceiver on one side and an RJ45 connector on the other side. The unit can be used to add fiber-optic networking to your existing wired network or convert your existing fiber optic network to a wired network. The unit can be used with a microRendu, ultraRendu, opticalRendu, Signature Rendu, or any other network endpoint
The opticalModule is systemOptique Certified
If using with an existing microRendu or ultraRendu you will need two optical units and two power supplies to preserve the infinite galvanic isolation inherent to the system. The optical units each come with a SFP transceiver. From the second optical unit to the Rendu you need to use an ethernet cable. (Signature Rendu already has an optical network port, so that only a single opticalModule will normally be required)
Optical Module Deluxe features:
- Supports both 100mb/s speed and Gigabit speed network devices
- Supports flow control
- Designed on the same form factor as the ultra/opticalRendu and the Sonore ultraDigital
- Compatible with the ultraDigital (ethernet input to SPDIF/i2s output)
- Compatible with the Sonore endPoint (ethernet input to SPDIF/AES-EBU output)
- Improved circuit layout
- Supports the use of the Sonore dual faceplate
- Includes a link LED
- Includes LEDs on the ethernet connector that indicate 100/1000 speed streaming
- All connections are on the rear faceplate
Features
- Four (4) high-quality ultra low noise linear regulators
- Fixed frequency high-quality ultra low jitter FEMTO oscillator
- External power input jack
- RJ45 input connector
- Includes one SFP fiber optic transceiver
- Power connector: 2.1mm x 5.5mm (center +)
- Power input: 5-9 VDC
- Dimension: 3.5″x2.2″x.7″

If you use a 3rd party supply please check that it meets specifications and is of correct polarity
Most people will use this with Sonore opticalRendu. For the Ultimate ‘Rendu’ please also see the Signature Rendu SE and new Optical versions available to order. Review of Optical Signature Rendu
How do I use this? Just connect network cable from your router to the opticalModule, and plug in an optical cable. Done! No set-up or adjustments are required. (Connect the optical cable to an opticalRendu for a low-noise really high-quality endpoint
